Rose (Stio) Scelzo

Rose (nee Stio) Scelzo, 80, of Paramus, died on July 18.

Born in New York City she has lived in Paramus since 1958. She was an executive secretary for Titan Global Tech. in Montvale. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Of Visitation R.C. Church in Paramus. She was a volunteer of CHORE in Hackensack, an organization assisting people in need.

Beloved wife of the late Dominick Scelzo (1993). Devoted mother of Paul Scelzo and Marianne Grady of Paramus. Loving grandmother of Kimberly and Kevin Grady.

Karl H. Padags

Karl H. Padags, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Hackensack, died July 3.

Born in 1938 to loving parents Martin and Magdelana (Stobbe) Padags in Koenigsberg, Germany. Karl emigrated to the United States in 1956 and joined U.S. Air Force serving at Donaldson AFB in Greenville, SC and Hickam AFB in Hawaii, where he served with the 15th Airlift Wing for four years. Moving to Hackensack, in 1965, he worked in the import/export business in NYC for several years before meeting his wife Nancy.

He loved discussing national and world politics with family and friends and kept everyone laughing with his sarcastic wit. Karl moved to Miami, FL and became an assistant with the Elizabeth School of Music under the supervision of caring co-workers Elizabeth and Joseph Tausch. Karl leaves behind a sister, Margot M. Malloy, Hackettstown, NJ, former wife Nancy Vergara and many nieces and nephews.

Cecilia M. Perez

Cecilia M. Perez, of Hackensack, died July 16.

Peter von Salzen

Peter von Salzen, 84, of Hackensack, died on Friday, July 18.

He worked as a welder for General Aviation and Electronics in South Hackensack and Anchor Precision in Hackensack for 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Beloved husband of Marise (nee Small). Loving father Kurt von Salzen, Erich von Salzen, Karl von Salzen and the late Franz von Salzen. Cherished grandfather of Michelle, Tracy and Justine and great-grandfather of Katlyn, Julian and Elliot. Dearest brother of the late John von Salzen.

Ralph L. Asher

Ralph L. Asher, of Old Tappan, died July 19.

A man of many passions and achievements, Ralph was loved and respected by all who knew him. A 1958 graduate of RPI, he went on to earn an MEE and MBA. During a 40-year tenure at ITT Avionics, he served as Exec. VP of Business Development. In a second career, he was a financial planner. He was devoted to Temple Beth El, Closter, NJ, and, among other positions, served as its President. Ralph left an indelible impact on the lives he touched and will be deeply missed.

Cherished husband of Susan (Pinsky) and beloved father of Dana (Scott Reiner), Larry (Janpei) and Scott (Karen). Adored grandfather of Arielle, Juliana, Stephanie, Eric and Jeremiah.

Margaret Pellecchio

Margaret "Peggy" Pellecchio (De Lorenzo), 77, of Hackensack, died July 23.

Prior to retiring, she worked as a teacher's aide for Bergen County Special Services of Paramus. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Episcopal Church of Hackensack.

Wife of the late Salvatore Pellecchio (2003); mother of Carol Gan and her husband George of Rochelle Park and Susan Battle of Ridgefield Park; grandmother of Nicole, Siobhan, George Jr. and Lauren; great-grandmother of Nadia, Tyler, Perry, and Isabella; sister of the late Carmela Miller and Lucille Paige.

Services were held at G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, Hackensack and St. Anthony of Padua Episcopal Church.

Interment was at Maple Grove Park Cemetery.

Memorial donations to St. Anthony of Padua Episcopal Church, 72 Lodi Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601 would be appreciated.

Charlotte (Banks) James

Charlotte (Banks) James, of Hackensack, died July 21.

Survived by her "Baby" Sheba Buckley, beloved friend and caregiver Shirlee Wren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Calvin Jonakin, of Hackensack, died July 13.

Lovie Davis

Lovie Davis, of Hackensack, died on July 27.

Beloved aunt of Vedelin Allen, Ernest Allen Jr. (Lauretta) and Kenneth Allen. Also survived by many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

William Krajci

William M. Krajci, 55, of Hackensack, formerly of Hicksville and Woodstock, N.Y. died on Wednesday, July 30.

He graduated from Manhattan College in 1975, and received his Masters degree from Northern Illinois University in 1977. He then taught at Kean College and William Paterson University; he was an alumni of Manhattan College and an avid supporter of the Manhattan College Jaspers basketball team. He had been working for the United States Postal Service, was a member of the St. Columcille Pipe Band in Kearny and was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Hackensack.

Beloved husband of Catherine (nee Roddy). Devoted son of the late William S. Krajci and Kathleen (nee Manning). Cherished brother of Kathy Buckheit and husband Bob of North Carolina, Peggy Wolf and husband Ed of Chatham, Jeanette Krajci and husband Richard Hover of Red Hook, N.Y., and the late Maureen Krajci. William is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Trudy, Monica and Majella and one brother-in-law Padraig in Ireland, several nieces, nephews, a great nephew and several close and loving friends.

Juan M. Sanchez

Juan M. Sanchez M.D., 76, of Hackensack, died on Monday, July 28.

Before retiring in 2008 he was an orthopedic surgeon in Hackensack for more than 35 years and various other states for 15 years. He was a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons for more than 30 Years. He was a member of the Northeast Beekeepers Association of NJ, a member of the Model A Ford Classic Car Club, an avid gardener who could grow almost anything. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Hackensack.

Beloved husband of the late Mary (nee McKeever) 2005. Loving father of Miguel J. Sanchez and his wife Kathleen A., Maria A. Sanchez, and Ray Sanchez and his wife Mary. Dearest brother of Emilio, Antonio and Angel Sanchez of Spain. Juan is also survived by his former wife Rona E. Sanchez.

Frederick Mitchell

Frederick Mitchell, of Hackensack, died on July 24.

Dear husband to Wille L. Mitchell. Father to Frederick Mitchell III, Gregory Brodie, Sandy Bankston and Ronald Russell. He is survived by his mother-in-law Julia Brody, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, many other relatives and friends.

Frank Fernandi

Frank Fernandi, 63, of Hackensack, died July 24.

Born in Paterson, he lived in Fort Lee before moving to Hackensack eight years ago. He was a Vietnam veteran who received many awards including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart and belonged to the D.A.V.

Dear son of the late Frank and Jean (nee Ardis) Fernandi. Father of Frank and Jason Fernandi. Brother of Regina Scorzetti, and Bea Laganella. Also survived by seven nieces and nephews.

Charles R. Von Dietsch

Charles R. Von Dietsch, 82, of Hackensack, died Thursday, July 24.

Marine Veteran of World War II. He was a Steel Worker Foreman in NYC for Central Lathing Co. Before retiring, he was a driver for The Record.

Beloved husband of the late Diane Emma (nee Seeback) (February 2008). Loving father of Claudette McCormack and her husband Patrick and Charles Von Dietsch. Cherished grandfather of Pamela Grossberg and her husband Scott and James McCormack and his wife Tania, and great grandfather of Kristen Grossberg.

Dorothy Andrews

Dorothy Andrews, of Hackensack, died Tuesday, July 22.

Mother to William Andrews, Bobby Higgs, Inez Moore, Josephine Andrews, Beverly Hawthorne, Thomas and Timothy Andrews; mother-in-law to Tony Moore, Pearl, Ethel, Trenelle and Maxine Andrews. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren many other relatives and friends, predeceased by her brother William Andrews Sr.

Lillian Lorraine Redstone

Lillian Lorraine (Chapman) Redstone, 82, of Toms River, formerly of Hackensack, died July 24.

She is predeceased by her son, Michael, her mom and dad, two sisters, and her daughter-in-law Viola. Sadly, she leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 64 years Charles D. Redstone. Devoted, loving, and cherished mother to 12 children, Patricia Graziano and her husband Anthony, Charles Redstone and his wife Luz, Kathleen Amodio and Al Frerot, Lee Redstone and his wife Marianne, Theresa Panzironi and her husband David, Margaret Deitsch and her husband Lewis, Barbara Lipari and her husband Joseph, Michael Redstone (deceased), Joseph Redstone and his wife Karen, Tammy Redstone, Daniel Redstone, and John Redstone and his wife Kim. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-laws.
